About the Job
QA Manager (Software QA & ISO Compliance)
Reports to: Product Director
Executive sponsor for ISO 27001 matters: CEO

This role will work closely with engineering leadership, the CTO, management, and the external ISO 27001 consultant.

Mission
Co-own the company’s software QA planning and release quality process, while coordinating the company-side implementation and ongoing maintenance of ISO 27001 with support from an external consultant.

The role is intended for a hands-on QA professional who can improve software quality practices, organize practical testing activities, work comfortably in Linux environments, use scripting where needed, and help ensure that ISO 27001 controls are followed in daily operations.

About the Role
We are looking for a QA Manager who can combine software QA planning, hands-on testing capability, practical automation support, and ISO 27001 compliance coordination.

The immediate priorities are to establish a practical QA plan, improve release discipline, raise quality awareness across the software development lifecycle, and coordinate ISO 27001 implementation work internally. The successful candidate does not need to be an ISO 27001 specialist, but should have enough IT and process understanding to work with the external consultant, follow up with internal control owners, and ensure that required records and evidence are maintained.

Our core technology is based on the BATS network coding. Our large file transfer solution is the first commercial product built on top of this technology. The system spans network protocol, file transfer engine, and application layers, and requires disciplined testing across functional, integration, system, regression, and reliability scenarios.

 Key Responsibilities:
  • Co-own and improve the company’s QA plan, test approach, and release quality process together with product and engineering leadership.
  • Plan test coverage and coordinate functional, integration, regression, exploratory, reliability, and release validation testing; maintain clear test, defect, and release validation records.
  • Write or maintain practical scripts and test-support tools for validation, regression runs, log checking, result collection, and release verification in Linux-based environments.
  • Coordinate the company-side implementation of ISO 27001 with the external consultant, including documentation, evidence collection, audit preparation, and follow-up actions.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in software QA, software testing, test automation, QA lead, or related quality roles.
  • Practical experience in QA planning, test design, regression testing, defect tracking, release validation, and QA process improvement.
  • Has the hands-on ability to run tests, investigate issues, check logs, and support troubleshooting in Linux and Windows environments when needed.
  • Good understanding of the software development lifecycle, release quality control, defect management, and documentation discipline.
  • Strong coordination and follow-up skills, with the ability to work across engineering, product, management, IT, and external consultants.
  • Good written and spoken English and Mandarin. Ability to speak fluent Cantonese is a definite advantage.

 Preferred:
  • Experience supporting ISO 27001, IT audit, internal audit, or similar compliance-related work.
  • Basic familiarity with CI-based test execution or configuration, such as GitLab CI or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with information security practices such as access control, change management, incident handling, asset inventory, backup records, and operational reviews.
  • Experience working in a software or networking company where the role requires both hands-on execution and process ownership.

 Work Environment:
  • Small, engineering-driven software company with direct exposure to product, engineering, and management.
  • High-ownership role with the opportunity to establish practical QA discipline and improve how software is delivered.
  • Important role in supporting the company’s ISO 27001 implementation and ongoing compliance.
